Al-Baqarah 2:256

"There is no compulsion in religion (La ikraha fi'd-din). The right course has become distinct from error."

What Allah Told the Prophet

"You are only a reminder. You are not over them a controller." — Al-Ghashiyah 88:21-22

"Had your Lord willed, everyone on earth would have believed. Will you then compel people to become believers?" — Yunus 10:99

"Say: The truth is from your Lord. Whoever wills — let them believe; whoever wills — let them disbelieve." — Al-Kahf 18:29

If even the Prophet didn't have this authority — how can a scholar, congregational leader, or family elder?

Coerced Faith Is Not Faith

Faith is a conscious choice. Acceptance of religion through fear, pressure, or social coercion:

• Is invalid before God — because intention (the heart's ruling) is required.
• Produces hypocrisy — outwardly Muslim, inwardly rejecting.
• Enslaves people — creating fearful followers instead of free servants of God.
